An Adventure in Hedge Funds

An Architects view on life, Languages, Frameworks and methodologies

Experience Required

I have done my fair share of interviewing, as a former Partner and Chief Archetect of a small consulting firm, part of my role was to interview potential new hires.  A common theme arose out of this process, many of the canidates had ASP.Net experience but little or no WinForm experience, also many of them have had little or no experience in building applications for the trading floor, both of which are essential experiences for Investment Banking and Hedge Funds.

Sounds like there is an oppurtunity for someone to develop a training course geared to providing the attendee’s with the appropriate experience in building apps for the trading floor and beyond.

I am currently working with an experienced .Net trainer at the moment developing course material for such training so will keep you all posted as we get closer to publishing the course material.

A collegue of mine has an interesting entry that disects A Job Posting, check out the comments.

Legacy IT (you gota love it)

Will SOA be the answer to this problem, I think not, there is no silver bullet when it comes to integration of systems within an organization, let alone across organizations.
